A Dog’s Idea of the Ideal Country Estate
Held Jr., John
Date of Creation:
This is an 'imaginative' pictorial map of a dog’s idea of the ideal country estate. The source in “Country Living “magazine. The map depicts numerous locales, activities, and items that any dog would include in its ideal country home. Activities include chasing a child on a bicycle, biting the dog-catcher, 'a delightful pastime', and frightening an old lady. Several buildings are illustrated as well, such as a luxurious kennel complex, two butcher shops, one of which is 'self-service', a slipper store (for chewing up, of course), and free bones. Other locales include a mud puddle for making tracks, a tree with a cat, a flower bed for digging, and a clean bed for an afternoon nap. One last, highly imaginative aspect of this map is the scale, located in the lower left corner near the title. It is, in fact, a scale of musical notes and has nothing to do with distances depicted here.
